For those of you who know Amel, you know that he is kind of a work-a-holic. He does not waste one minute of his life. He is either studying, in a class, cleaning the garage, meeting with someone, or working. Most women complain that their husbands lay around the house and don't do anything. I've never made that complaint in my life. My complaint is that he can't stay still. Don't get me wrong, most of the time, this is a good thing. But sometimes, the kids just want to be with him and he needs to stop what he's doing and do just that. Last night was one of those times. After dinner, he wanted to clean the garage, but the kids wanted to play with him before bed, so he played ping-pong with Ricky and Juliet. Afterwards, Juliet wanted to play Rockband, so we played the drums together while Zoey "sang." I wish I had taken a picture of them, it was the sweetest thing. They had a blast doing very ordinary things. It was one of those rare nights where he had no meetings to go to and nothing to study for and we had no where to go...and it was great.
GOLDEN NUGGET: Knowing that my children's happiness is mine as well.
If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored; If you remove unrighteousness far from your tent, and place your gold in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks, then the Almighty will be your gold and choice silver to you. For then you will delight in the Almighty, and lift up your face to God. You will pray to Him, and He will hear you; and you will pay your vows. You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; and light will shine on your ways. When you are cast down, you will speak with confidence and the humble person He will save. He will deliver one who is not innocent, and he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands. Job 22:23-30

Vangie,
I walked into the office tonight after trying diligently to finish my kitchen work...(which I think needs some finishing touches) and my girls were enjoying your blog. They shared the library book incident with me and the "dorks" post...we all laughed. But what made me want to write you was when Madison was scrolling down and I saw the title, "Just an Ordinary Day". I enjoyed reading what you wrote...I can relate to how you felt that night. I have written about days like that myself, in my journal... Those ordinary days that are so glorious that you just have to sit back in the middle of it and say, "It doesn't get any better than this". And then I just thank our Heavenly Father for such a moment on earth...some of my "ordinary glorious days" are things like,
children playing in the sprinklers then drying off in the sun, when the ice cream man comes by, playing outside all day with laughter and contentment, when the littlest one says " i love you " for the first time...I could go on and on. I really like your blog Vangie...God bless you.
Thanks, Kristen. I enjoy sharing our family stories and I'm glad you and your kids get a kick out of my kids as much as I do.
